How much money do I need to start a food business?

Starting a food business is not inexpensive. $100,000 is a good estimate of the money you’ll need to succeed. That goes to ingredient sourcing, manufacturing, packaging and all of the things that the greater goods does—from market analysis to branding, ingredients sourcing and much more—as we guide you through the many, many steps from big idea to store shelf.

Our process combines initial product validation (6 to 8 weeks) and, if you have a winner, 5 to 7 months from validation to store shelves. Our process includes consultation with actual retailers and will most likely result in orders from some of those same retailers. The rest of the money you’ll need is for design, packaging, ingredients, manufacturing and launch promotion.
